Looking for a few recommendations here. I have a load of episodes of children's TV (Fireman Sam and the like) stored on my external hard drive and also on my home NAS device. I'd like a quick and easy way to be able to play these on my TV. The solution I have at the moment is simply to connect my laptop to the TV and run the videos from the computer to the VGA output on the TV, but this is a) dangerous, as my seven cats regularly scuttle past the laptop and could bring it crashing to the floor, and b) far too technical a setup for my wife to put together for the kids herself when I am out of the house.
Is there some sort of device I could purchase that could have a USB device plugged into it, and would then be able to deliver the content to my TV, or can you just get (for example) DVD players that accept USB drives or the like now? (I'm way out of touch with home tech, please forgive me). Or is there any other quick and dirty way I could deliver these videos so that it's easy for my other half (she is a complete technophobe)?
