+1,000,000!!!

Spend $1500 and be done with it, the ROI vs. a $500 thing is likely under 2 
years.  I have a client that went through 2 or three different $500-ish 
scanners in three years, they stepped up to a big Konica and it simply works 
with no fuss.

Maybe used.  Around $1.5K is more reasonable.

  Exactly.  The cheaper stuff sucks, frankly.  You'll end up wishing you had 
paid three times as much, for all the frustration it puts you though.
