The ntp.org pools consist of thousands of autonomous donor systems. Your level of assurance is proportional to the number of servers you associate with. Want a higher level of assurance? Use more servers. Anyone lying to you will quickly be seen as out-of-sync and discarded. At least, that's the way Delaware NTP works; I can't speak to Microsoft's implementation. One can also use GPS as a highly-accurate time source (sub-second accuracy). I'm told implementation cost can be under $100. So that's an option for the truly demanding. (GPS depends on time sync (each satellite has an on-board atomic clock), so by definition any GPS receiver has highly-accurate time. Not all of them expose it in a useful fashion, though.) -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
