There are two ways to do this: New (supported) way: Disable strict name checking on the server. Create a DNS alias (CNAME)
Old: On the server, add the alias under this key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters REG_Multi_String=OptionalNames. This will cause the server to answer to the additional names, as well as advertise the alias in WINS. Note: The new way does not work on domain controllers (at least it didn't the last time I tried it). Ken Cornetet 812.482.8499 To err is human - to moo, bovine.
