from what i understand you cant go back into the web application once its created an do add ssl or change ports etc, you need to extend the web app to another iis and do it there, am i right?
also i have found some errors being able to perform crawls on the web app in the event viewer and the wss_content database is sitting at 4gb now. I'm not 100% sure what this database does and whether its a huge problem or a red herring, havent found any decent docco on sharepoint default databases yet. Interestingly i can still create new portals though and the two other ones work fine!! i love these days!
