I have some situations where i really need to start using a backup network so i'm not affecting network customers are using. Ideally i'd like to assign an IP address on a new network to a SQL Failover Instance to be used for this private backup network and would follow it no matter which node it ended up being on. I would then just use the local HOSTS file on my backup server and on each node to resolve to the new IP on this new backup server. Have you guys done this before? I haven't been successful with it yet.
