I have Office 2007, does that mean it's ok to install for Office 2007 installs?

However, I don’t have that installed, I have Office 2010. I’ve checked out KB articles 2526086 and 2591039 and didn’t find any indication that it was suitable for Office 2010. I’ve never seen this situation before, so I’m just curious if others noticed the same thing, if the two packages are so similar that the SPs cover both, or basically other opinions on the situation.
