Im in the same boat and looking at eventually hooking up the whole house with a sonos or squeezebox to stream music everywhere. For now, I use an ipad with a klipsch docking station to get pretty good output. Then launch pandora, itunes, slacker, last.fm, spotify or stream mp3 from your PC or NAS. I use a synology NAS that doubles as an itunes server, media server etc and it does a good job.
