We've run into it a few times. It is the primary reason our Virtual Center server is still physical and we run the VIService off local system with the SQL server on the same box, not SAN (fortunatly we can still get away with it).
It is not imposible to get your environment back up after an planned our unplanned datacenter outage but it is really irritating and when it's unplanned at 1 AM you have to play 'Where are the DC's it shortens ones temper a mite. In one datacenter we have potentially 25 hosts to check. The potential number is less but I have found that 1 am wakeup call and drive in proceedure befuddles one and you end up connecting to them in numerical order until you find the stupid things.
