Anyone encountered this and managed to do anything about it without rebooting the box? vssadmin list shadows shows no shadows for the drive affected, despite the fact that looking at the drive properties in explorer shows 300gb of shadows stored. vssadmin delete shadows /for=c: just gives the error in the subject, nor can I change the shadow storage drive as I get the same error. >From the GUI I can enable and disable shadows on that drive, and create and >delete shadows, with no difference to the amount of space it reports as being >in use (300gb or so). This is 2008 R2 (no SP1 yet).
