the 2003 to 2003 R2 is very simple. More like adding additional features, than a true OS upgrade. You should be fine. No issues.
We use Concur here, but do not have federation services configured. I need to configure Federation with them and they sent me a SAML document and it looks like I need to install ADFS…which requires 2003 R2 and we don’t have any 2003 R2 servers, ours are straight 2003. It’s not a big deal to stand up a 2003 R2 DC in a 2003 domain is it? Is an in-place upgrade possible? I seem to think on the 2003 versions, 2003 and 2003 R2 are very similar.
