The tunnels didn't appeal to me, because everything I need to connect with is IPSec, but they only support OpenSSL. Once I got over that, however, I was good, because I searched for the best router that would support the firmware before I bought it.
To me, it's no different from any other HCL type situation. If you get the wrong hardware, you're on a wing an a prayer. DD-WRT is getting to the point where hardware vendors are providing their equipment with it installed, so that's a good thing, IMO. Thanks for the feedback, though.
