Just went through the licensing paper again. I think I skipped over a very
important section of the sentence in my first perusal. "Client Management
Licenses (MLs) are required for managed devices that run non-server OSEs. So,
unless I'm going to manage desktops with DPM, Ops Mgr, etc, I should be fine
and not need the client MLs...

Yeah...yesterday's licensing announcements were about 99% server/datacenter.
The client side will be announced at MMS 2012. They'll have a licensing kiosk
available in the Expo in the Microsoft pavilion, as well as, a Birds of a
Feather for the new licensing models.

Well..... it is, but it isn't. Found a Licensing White Paper yesterday
afternoon. On the server side, you'll get the whole suite. But, there's
always the client side to worry about. In our case, we purchased only SCCM in
our EA, along with Core CALs. So, we will have access to SCCM, VMM and
Endpoint Protection only. We would have to either upgrade to the Enterprise
CALs, or the other client MLs, which gives you allows you to manage clients
with Ops Mgr, DPM, etc. The price listed on the paper I read for those CALs is
$121 each, which can add up.

Will have to speak with our licensing rep to clarify, but seems pretty
straightforward to me.

Didn't want to exclude this community since there are many here working with
SCCM (and OpsMgr).

Did you folks see the news about the System Center licensing changes?
