I must say, that I am increasingly annoyed by vendors that try to make more money on the concept of "value derived by the customer" that is not in any way tied to costs of goods or services to the vendor.
Like the whole, "if your product is running on 4 processors, it costs more than if it is running on 2". Maybe. But is sure doesn't cost the vendor 2x -- not even for support. At that point it just becomes greed, and pushes people more and more to alternative solutions. Licenses per system monitored? Fine. Licenses per user managed? Fine, for the most part. Licenses for messages sent per unit of time? We need to talk. I see much potential for unreasonableness. There are very few elements of the application that are different because a particular customer is sending 200K messages, and in most cases, the support for this is in a license file, rather than an entirely separate piece of code, which means they they are inherently supporting that code all the time in the first place. As consumers (corporate or personal), we need to stop supporting such stupid and greedy business models... * * *ASB* *http://XeeMe.com/AndrewBaker* *Harnessing the Advantages of Technology for the SMB market… * On Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 2:13 AM, Greg Olson <[email protected]> wrote: > I think that’s tied to the different licenses they sell.
