There have been interviews on the news outlets a bit ago.  In general
they may be able to mitigate some stuff.  However, it is nothing you
can't do yourself already and due to search engines archining, etc,
most of it isn't very effective if you aren't already doing something
already.

Simple.  Have a blog with the way you wish to present yourself.  Make
it relevant.  Have others who link to you and whom you link to be
quality in some way.  You will win the higher page rank so searches
will generally have your stuff near the top as opposed to mean stuff.
