"With a debit card, also known as a check card, you can shop at many merchant
locations without having to carry cash or remember your checkbook and enjoy all
the protections of using Visa, like our zero liability policy* against fraud."

My debit card has been used fraudulently twice. Both times I notified the
banks, filed a report and the money was back in my account in less than 72
hours. I only use debit cards and haven't had a credit card since April 2001.
I am just as protected by the Visa and MasterCard systems as their credit card
users.

The Rule for Buyers: Never wire money to anyone, don't ever use a debit
card online and ideally never send checks. You are much better protected
with a credit card, where you can dispute a fraudulent charge.
