I suggest to remove from the registry the Odyssey agent Guido Elia HELPPC - HELPPC SERVICE ________________________________ Da: Kim Longenbaugh [mailto:[email protected]] Inviato: venerdì 27 aprile 2012 1.29 A: NT System Admin Issues Oggetto: RE: Unable to ping -- why?
Try "netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off" that turns the firewall off From: Bill Monicher [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2012 4:59 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: Unable to ping -- why? Thanks for the suggestions: OS is XP MAC address for machine matches what is on the switch. Tried turning off wireless interface -- no difference IP Address is assigned by DHCP reservation. It already is on same VLAN as all targets, and same VLAN as all machines that cannot ping it. I did not try a static IP. I have however confirmed that if I map a drive to a server share the server sees that the connection is from the correct address -- but cannot ping it, nor can any remote management be done from the server. RPC & other services are all in the same state as an identical machine that I can remotely manage & can ping. Network Card settings are also in same state. There was one additional network component on the bad machine "Oddyssey network agent". No change whether it is enabled/disabled. I won't be able to do anything further until next Monday. Maybe it will go away by itself over the weekend. The user in question is able to access all network resources. Windows firewall is off, and no other firewall is running I have verified that all DHCP & DNS entries are correct. The user can ping anything on the network. Other symptoms: The machine loses connection to one server periodically. This is indicated by the fact that his computer shows the "offline" tray icon. Any time this happens, he can choose "synchronize", and he always is back online. He can access any internet/intranet site w/o problem at any time. Switch port counters show no problems. Changing switch port makes no difference. Any helpful suggestions appreciated.
