Xcalibur-based thin clients I have joined to the domain to take advantage of the integration with AD (management-wise). But if there's nothing to be gained management-wise then there's no reason to join them. Even for stuff like WSUS, you don't really need to join a domain. See Brian Madden's latest article for an interesting point about management and domain membership.

I have some new HP thin clients running WES7 and am debating the merits behind putting them on the domain, or just having them autologon with a locked down user account, launch the built-in browser pointed to the Citrix Xendesktop website, and log-in to their desktop. These thin clients will be connecting to both persistent and non-persitent Citrix Xendesktop images (depending on department). Being new to WES7 thin clients, i'm also trying to figure out how to get a users credentials to pass-thru to Xendesktop immediately after login, should I choose to add the WES7 clients to the domain. I'm more curious what you folks have done or are doing with respect to the management of windows-based thin clients. Are they just another windows box on your domain and treated accordingly? Is there any reason that you * wouldn't* add them to the domain? As always, thanks in advance.
