Like all other UPSes, they suck. But not as much as not having a UPS. Specific problems include: A million different models with poor differentiation and unnecessary design differences; OEM replacement batteries are hard to find/order; the front panel UI for models without a alphanumeric display is confusing. In the past their USB interfaces had problems with a very common Intel chipset, but I expect they've fixed that by now. In the past their PC-based software sucked, but I haven't used it in forever, and everyone else's software sucks, too. On the plus side: They're often cheaper than the competition, they have the best selection of double-conversion models; unlike 1/2 the APC UPSes I've used, I've never had the batteries swell up and jam inside the chassis. I considered Eaton for our current UPS strategy but their extended-run options were poor for the voltage and amp-hours we happened to need. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
