Everything is gone here (Charlottesville, central Virginia, US) except B&N and
a couple of local specialty bookstores.

But prices in B&N have definitely dropped, and their “alternative” sections
have definitely increased in size over the last few years, while what I
consider “mainstream” has shrunk. They are trying really hard to remain
relevant.

I didn’t see Border’s making that attempt.

Barnes and Noble still has stores open. If that is any consolation.

A couple other options, too, i.e, Kindle and paperback…

http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/06/04/free-ebook-introducing-windows-server-2012/

Cheap for a book, don’t you think? $0.99 for a Kindle version, and $8.00 with
a prime membership for the paperback.

The Kindle can read PDFs though…so I’m curious why anyone would opt for the
$0.99 Kindle version.
