David;
    I use a proces that defines the OS,Operating Environment, Server
Function, Sequence number , and Physcial location all within the Name.
If interested I can send Offline. It sounds complicated but very easy to
remember or figure out. This process allows you to know if it's a VM
Instance, VM Host, What OS, What Enviroment ( Production, Development or
staging ), server function ( application server,database server,
File/Print server, Utility server, VM Instance, VM Host or Web server )
and Business within seconds.

Thanks'

Subject: Server naming

Attacking server naming conventions again, how do you guys name your
servers? Currently we use location and function in the name, but what
about a server that does more than one thing?

Do you name servers that are virtualized differently than on-virtual
servers?
