They're all tools to get information, just like anything else. There's a stack of tools in the world for that purpose, it's just a matter or selecting the one that fits you the best. However, as time progresses, tools like Twitter (Facebook, uggh) are displacing some of the older tools. Twitter can be a mess unless you have the right client/app to make sense of it. Once you do that, you really don't need any other tool. I get more from Twitter than any other mechanism, now.
