Do you still have absolute control? Probably not - but you never had that in
the first place (unless you manufactured your own hardware, wrote your own OS,
compiled it using a compiler that you audited yourself etc.)

<any companies in the world co-locate their physical servers in other company's
data centres - already yielding physical control. Just about every company in
the world delegates administration of systems to their IT department, further
eroding absolute control.

Are we saying that this is all some unmanageable risk? The "right way" is for
every company to run their own data centres located on physical property that
they own, and managed only by owners of the company?

Cheers
Ken

They can certainly claim that but once you give physical access of your servers
to someone else who knows?

Lets say you manage your LOB servers that are under your physical control at
your business location. Lets say I call myself "secure cloud" and all of my
marketing describes how safe and secure your data is when it is in my
possession. So your company buys into it. I send a truck over and take your
physical servers and bring them to "the cloud" (really just my facility) and
tell you that within a few hours you will be able to log into your servers with
the same credentials. Do you still have control?

It is my understand that Microsoft has no access to the VMs. I have been very

public cloud is not for everyone.

If you don't have control of the host OS, do you really have control?

Has anyone been deploying VMs on Azure? I need to role out SharePoint, XenAPP,
