Agreed, but that doesn't solve my issue since I can't seem to prevent it from getting backed up as part of the system state. I think I'm going to have to schedule stopping the WDS service each night, and schedule it to start up again sometime after the backup is done. I've been able to verify that, if WDS service is stopped, my system state backups go from 100GB in size to about 13GB in size. (which is why i just hoped there was a way to exclude WDS from it.. but... doesnt seem likely at this point)

It gets an ad hoc backup, and relatively infrequent updates, as necessary, based on changes to the image library.
