I think all files and folders modded by cacls automatically lose the
"inherit" setting, although I could be wrong

I've used it since NT4 days and it only messes up when you omit the /e. It's
a lot easier to f*ck permissions up using the Windows GUI, believe me

Only 1100 sub-directories? Small fry for cacls

You can use dumpsec to get a report on your permissions before you start if
you want a better overview of the permissions right down the tree
