I'll give long odds that English is his first language - given his writing style and name I'll guess that he's native-born American, or that he's a native of some other country where English is the dominant language. Spelling/grammar/syntax/homophones are learnable by anyone with average intelligence, and Mr. Woodford certainly has evinced well better than that.
