Authentication to the site is done via the Security levels in the IE
browser.

Tools-->Internet Options--->Security---Intranet Zone--->Sites ( Add the
intranet.company.net to the Intranet zone.

Also you need to have the site setup for Integrated Windows
Authentication. In IIS 6.0
Right click the website, go to properties, go to Directory Security,
enable Integrated Windows authentication, and disable anonymous,

Run IISreset ( you shouldn't have to do this, but it's a good thing to
do)

Audit your content ( authenticated users all access success and delete)
and turn on your audit logs for success and failure of file and object
access.

Watch your IIS logs at an attempt and your audit logs to see where the
problem might be.

Is the site setup anonymous authentication, that would be one way.

Also you could put intranet.company.net into the trusted sites, and set
the
authentication to use logged on credentials and make sure authenticated
users have access to your website. ( GPO this)

ok
i have a server, call it ServerA. on that server is a site users know as
'intranet'. when they go to it in thier web browser as 'intranet', no
problem. when they go to it as intranet.company.net , they have to
authenticate. ive been driving myself nuts and i cant figure out how to
prevent that authentication.. anyone have any ideas??
