Have a change control log application where an admin/tech documents any
changes that happen the the domain, security, etc. That is to be followed up
with written description for our "book" that is essentially and inventory of
the machine (RAM, processors, Winver, drive configurations, and where it
plugs into the network). If it is an application server, the documentation
is accompanied by a Visio document so that it can be visualized in a
discussion.

Subject: Multiple admins - Server database?

To those of you who have more than one person that builds a server and
throws it on your LAN. How do you keep track of when the server was built,
when it was placed online, what it does and who uses it? Do you have an app
that the techs use? Is there one person who is primary for this task or does
the app handle it all?
