RDP, Citrix, and other such "interactive" network applications are really sensitive to latency. Roaming profiles, folder redirection, and other classic "file server applications" are all about bulk data transfer. Those are just about opposite goals. It's entirely possible the one is causing trouble with the other. If you've got a managed switch that does QoS, you might want to consider implementing a scheme that gives your Citrix traffic priority over the SMB traffic. If you don't have that, simply putting the Citrix stuff on a dedicated NIC (with a different IP address) and dedicated switch port might help.
