I don't know if you will find a manual per se, because I don't know if one
exists. I know that the vmware image is a std IDE drive that win98 can find
without issue. Your problem is converting your current physical pc to your
vmware image. You have options, such as the vmware converter (which is where
I would start), and then advanced options like ghosting from the physical to
the vmware (I use ghost8 dos version) using bartpe or something similar.
Linux makes some freeware imaging tools that would work here as well, the
name escapes me but they are included in bartPE (www.ubcd4win.com
<http://www.ubcd4win.com/> for the easiest way to build a bartPE cd)

Hope that gets you in the right direction.

So far I've worked with Virtual PC 2004/2007, to date just to create a new
XP and Vista install.

I do have access to Microsoft's Virtual Server product if that would be
better.

I'm looking at WinDriver Ghost. It appears to allow for backup of your
current drivers.

What exactly is this conversion?

I'm guessing I need to perform the following steps, I'm just not sure what
software I should be using:

# 1 Convert my old Win98 install to an image of some sort..use Acronis?
Virtual PC?

#2 Restore old Win98 image to Virtual PC somehow...use Acronis? Virtual PC
software?

Convert old drivers to some kind of stock Virtual PC drivers during either
step #1 or step #2.

A bit more detailed steps, or reference to a manual explaining these steps
in a bit more detail would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Anthony

Vmware can do it for you, so can MS virtual server.

Check out : windriver ghost in advance to save all your drivers you cant get
:-) , run the conversion and you should be good to go.
