If you got a MSU file, then you were sent the wrong version. As you
surmise, that is for Vista and Server 2008, not for Server 2003.

I just received a Microsoft Hotfix to apply to a win 2003 R2 server. It
is an MSU file, and I am not sure what has to be done to apply this. 

 

Googling tells me that I need to use a WUSA.EXE program to unpack and
install it, but there is no download location I can find. It appears to
be Server 2008 or Vista specific. 

 

What am I missing?
