I fired it up in a VM.

 

I think that it has its place in "big shops", not so much for us "little and
medium guys" (which may not apply to you - but does to me and my clients).
The lack of .NET framework and PowerShell make it a little tough to manage
(although WinRM works just fine as do any remote tools) and make it not very
suitable for a hosting platform.

 

I find the entire Windows Server 2008 experience to be much improved over
Windows Server 2003.
