That sort of sounds like what we're seeing, but I'm confused by the
description in the KB article. It has this under the "Symptom" section:

"If you add files to the Offline Files folder on a Microsoft Windows
XP-based computer that is shared by more than one user, offline
synchronization of those files will occur when another user logs on to
that computer."

By under the "Cause" section, it says:

"Synchronization occurs when the computer connects to the network, not
when a user logs on to the computer."

It also says that a hotfix is available, but also that it can be fixed
with the latest SP. So does that mean that with SP3, I don't need the
hotfix? But then again, the article was last reviewed in August of
2007--so it can't be referring to SP3.

And most importantly, none of the solutions would seem to work for our
environment. The closest seems to be the "Purge files for non-primary
users at logoff", but if I'm reading the article correctly we would have
to edit the registry on every machine to put in the username of the
primary user. Blech.

Since you're probably already at SP2, check out the registry settings in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811660

Sometimes it's easier to just reset the offline file cache first as well

Subject: Folder Redirection Question

I'm a little hazy on this one, even though we've been using folder
redirection for a while.

Why does folder synchronization occur for users other than the one who's
currently logged in?

For instance, I just now logged into a test machine here. Up pops folder
synchronization, synching files for a user whose account I had used to
log into this machine... Oh, I don't know... Maybe three months ago? Why
does the machine think it necessary to synch that user's files when
*I'm* the one logging in? Do I have something configured incorrectly?
