What Gen? Namely which card?
You'll find manuals here:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/

Check the sections on Moving drives and arrays, it would detail the state of
the controller as it needs to be in before a "percieved" set of new drives gets
plugged in.

Subject: Resetting a HP Smart Array, and making it read the config from the
disks

Help.

I have been contacted by someone who has moved some HP DL380 servers to a new
premises.

On powering one of the units up, he is informing me that an error has occured.

The SA reports that there is no array dvices present and that the controllers
are locked until this situation is resolved.

he has asked me to go out an see what I can do on Sunday.

I know that the HP SA stores the RAID config on the Card and accross all the
disks in the set as a backup.

I think I need to reset the card and make it read the config from the disks.

Does anyone know where to find how to do this on the HP website, I have tried
searching but I always struglle finding things on the HP site, so any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks

Graeme
