It looks a good solution is ghosting the disk to a new one .Norton Ghost has an
option to go on even if the source has errors. This should be a NTFS metadata
error on MFT table

Oggetto: Problem with installation of SP3

I was attempting to install the Windows XP SP3 on my laptop and got the
following error:
"The file or directory c:\$Secure is corrupt and unreadable. Please run
the Chkdsk utility."

I backed out of SP3 and run chkdsk and found nothing, on reboot; I received an
error that there was no Paging File. I attempted to recreate it but I still
get the error on reboots.

I am also still getting the c:\$Secure is corrupt and unreadable.

Has anyone else had this problem with SP3 and found a workaround. From Google,
it appears to be an IE7 issue, but I don't have IE7 installed.

Thanks in advance for any help,
-Steve Nelligan
