I'm trying to test some WMI queries and have hit upon an oddness with WBEMTEST which appears to be the cause of an issue we are seeing with our monitoring software. If I try to connect to; \\<IP>\root\cimv2 <file:///\\%3cIP%3e\root\cimv2> >From the server to certain machines, I get an error. If I connect using this line; \\<machinename>\root\cimv2 <file:///\\%3cmachinename%3e\root\cimv2> It works, yet the machine name resolves to the same IP. This only seems to affect certain machines on the network. Any ideas why connecting to the IP wouldn't work, but connecting to a machinename which resovles to an IP would ?
