Perhaps, but I read it as it adds credibility to firing him for poor performance...what he did speaks volumes to his lack of integrity. I would NEVER hire someone if I knew they had ever done something along those lines.
I cannot fathom *any* reason for doing something like that to your employer - former or not. I refuse to be a bigger a-hole than my employer, no matter how asinine they might be.
