I've tested their Exchange product in my lab.

To the best of what I could tell, all it does is dismount the stores, run
eseutil /d and then remount them.

Nothing magical there. It's just doing all the work for you.

It does have an additional module if you want to use it to defrag the "store"
not sure about SQL and not aware of any defragger that handles open files PD
out of the box will try repeatedly to get the open files eventually skipping
them

We don't use the Exchange addon and don't defrag the raid that "exchange" is on

How does this program handle open files, SQL and Exchange?

I was thinking about something like this the other day.

(I have received junk mail from the vendor, but have not looked at it, but
seeing this thread makes me wonder)

PerfectDisk from Raxco (www.raxco.com<http://www.raxco.com>). Centrally managed
defrag.

For smaller shops I just use the free tool DIRMS
(www.dirms.com<http://www.dirms.com>) and throw it in the scheduler.

What do you guys use to defrag your server's hard drives?
I have RAID 1 and RAID 5 arrays and have used Windows Defrag utility, but I am
sure there is something better (and that can be scheduled to run after hours)

I have an Exchange 2003 server that is showing 45% fragmented on D: (RAID 5 -
also where the store is).
Thanks.
