Thanks guys, I'm an idiot. The minute after I posted simple file sharing came flying into my mind and that did it. Is a "duh" moment acceptable on a Wednesday.
Thanks again everyone. -Marty From: Christopher Boggs [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 9:39 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: NEED HELP - Unable to set Permissions on NTFS Partition (XP Pro) Turn off SIMPLE FILE SHARING in the Tools>Folder Options>View settings of any Explorer window. ________________________________ From: Marty Nelson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 11:34 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: NEED HELP - Unable to set Permissions on NTFS Partition (XP Pro) Morning all, (or afternoon depending on where you are). Here's the problem I seeing. I have a system (Windows XP Professional) that I'm controlling remotely through VNC (It's in Australia and I am in California). The partition is NTFS, however when I go to a folder of file properties, the security tab isn't there. I have the "General", "Summary", and "Sharing" tabs are, but no security. I always thought that once you made a partition NTFS, that's all you needed to set file level permissions. Please tell me I'm missing something obvious, I'm in a bit of a time crunch and would really appreciate any help you could provide.
