2 things:

a) Two words: downgrade rights. Dell gives you the option to have XP
pre-installed on machines with a Vista Business license, and if you buy
a HP business-class desktop with Vista Business they give you re-install
media *and* driver CDs for both.

b) Defender is a POS. The same can be said for most anti-spyware
packages. The best one out there is the list host's CounterySpy. It's
available as a stand-alone consumer package, a stand-alone
enterprise-grade managed package, and bundled with their VIPRE
anti-virus package. VIPRE is also available as a consumer package and an
enterprise-grade managed package.
