I have had no experience with external mail filtering as I previously
had security concerns with others having access to our mail. I have changed
my position due to the volume of stuff that has to get filtered and the
amount of bandwidth all this extra email has placed on my customers network
and servers.

We are a MS Partner an I have begun using it for may SMB customers rather
than having them have to deal any more with an in-house solution. I put them
on a 30 day trial and send them a report each week showing exactly the
volume of spam, viruses and malware are getting filtered. Once they try it
they can envision going back to not having it They have been easy to deal
with, the setup was easy, the support has been very good and the results
have been great. The most difficult part of the setup is adding accounts to
the filtering then adding them to Directory. You do not have to use both but
I really like the directory as any addresses not listed simply are dropped.
If you had a large number of users with multiple aliases it could be a pain,
but you can create a connection with them to your AD and they can sychronize
it. I have not tried this as my account typically are under 25 users and
creating a simply text file to upload has been easy enough.

I tried to look at Postini via Google as it is less money but could not even
get them to bother calling me back on multiple requests. I decided that if I
could not get them to respond to a sales inquiry what would happen when I
needed support.

I am so satisfied with it I am starting a trial on my own interal systems
and if everything goes ok will not be renewing my Forefront subscription
next month.
