HP Firmware and drivers are often tied closely together.

So when setting up new boxes, use the latest of each.

HP wont guide you to a Smart Start that won't work with your system. For
example if you have an old Proliant, and perhaps the last SS to work with
that was 7.10, that's the version they will point you too.

NO offense,

But wouldn't standard procedure be on the HP systems, to download and
install latest firmware and use the latest HP Smart Start CD that comes with
the server? I know what is what I do here, but I haven't don't anything with
Win2k8 on the server farm yet, but looking to do it soon.

Stop now.

First download the firmware CD, burn it and boot the server from it to
update your firmware:

Then download the latest smartstart CD image and install 2008 from there.

I am installing the first of my new domain controllers on an HP DL380 g5

Smartstart won't work, so I've booted to the 2008 install cd.

Any tips? This will be a domain controller with dhcp, dns and ias.
