-WSS 2.0 is/was Windows Sharepoint Services, and is/was free with the Server 2003 OS (probably all but Web edition). -SPS 2003 is Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 and is the pay-for version of WSS 2.0 (lots more bells and whistles).
-WSS 3.0 is Windows Sharepoint Services, and is a free upgrade for WSS 2.0 on Server 2003 OS (probably all but Web edition), or can be done as a clean install from the download. -MOSS 2007 is Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 and is the pay-for version of WSS 3.0 (lots more bells and whistles). This is the next server version up from SPS 2003. -Bonnie From: Jon Harris [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2008 7:47 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Really stupid question Okay my brain is fried pretty good at the moment so I need a bit of help. Sharepoint use to come two ways, free and expensive. The free one was Sharepoint Services the expensive one was Sharepoint Server. I think Sharepoint Server morphed into Sharepoint 2007 then into MOSS. The free one is still Sharepoint Services and is still at 3.0. Am I correct in this? Anyone have an idea as to when the replacement for Sharepoint Services will be coming out?
