Not yet, I am fine with Office 2003, like you mentioned before, but 2k7
which is making its way into the organization is causing me some
troubles.

We haven't gone to Office 2007 yet and I've never had any issues with
patching 2003 - on 5.9 or 6.1.  I don't think I've tried doing what
you're
doing though. 

Have you tried posting to the Shavlik support forums?  Their support
people
answer a lot of questions there.
