Putting a little square of a thick tape, such as electrical tape, on the little
piezo speaker on the board (if equipped) makes a huge reduction in sound output.

Nah, I disconnected them for a brief second. Actually more searching on the net
suggest "Capacitor Buzz"?
Its ridiculous, and coincidentally all these Q6600's also have the same mobo.

Unbearable...

Sounds like a normal variable speed cooling fan changing under load to me.

Ok, so this is going to sound ridiculous, but I have a few Q6600 systems and
all of them make serious noise that we can trace to the CPU under load.

Drag a window, move a file, or what ever and the CPU buzzes?

WTF? Its loud and annoying! Anyone know how to cure this?

Thanks,
jlc
