One of our warehouse techs is good with a soldering iron and he's had some success with PC motherboards and Cisco switches.
Unfortunately, a bad capacitor is sometimes one symptom of a bigger problem, and sometimes a bad capacitor can have a "ripple effect" to the other components on the board. I find that it's usually not worth the effort.
