Worst case, Cisco switches will notice within 2 minutes. More likely case is 20 seconds.
How often does solarwinds probe a down system? That's a much more reasonable query. Regards, Michael B. After system comes backup 'Solarwinds' still show it down and not responding for 5 minutes. Yet people are backup and working. I have noticed this on several of the server class machines where links don't respond then after a time start responding, even though the downed system is fully up and operational. Is there a cached 'system down' somewhere? Is this a Windows thing or a Cisco switch thing? Luke L.
