Really ,starting from 3 or 4 monthes, it happened to 3-4 servers after updates
,fortunately not when I was remote. A reboot cleared the issue , but I think MS
should clarify..

Sorry for the late reply-I nearly dropped off the radar with the start to
school this year. Things are finally calming down to "normal"!

I've been seeing this for several months now, probably since July patches, and
have been doing the same thing to fix it when I need to. So far I've been
lucky enough it hasn't happened at a remote site, but I would probably find the
reg entry to turn off RDP and use shutdown.exe to get the server rebooted
remotely.

I've also seen it happen after just a server reboot, from driver/firmware
updates. Interesting thing is that if you run netstat -an on the local server,
the port is listening, just not responding. I've not found another solution
yet.

THanks Scott, I did uncheck, and then recheck, but didn't reboot in between.
I'll try that next.
Thanks
Steve

I had the same issue. Had to uncheck the enable remote desktop, reboot and then

Just noticed on a couple of machines (servers)...after applying regular windows
update, RDP fails to work. Anyone else see this? Can't telnet to port 3389
locally on those PC's. Firewall is off. Server 2003.
