IE7 certainly will do FTP, are you forming your URL like this :

"ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

IE7 won't do ftp but I can connect from the Windows Explorer interface.

A command-line ftp connection gives me the same error as the latest
version of Filezilla. FZ is set for Passive with fall back to active
mode. We're behind an ISA proxy but I have that disabled on my box.

A stumper...

Strange that ie works? That makes me think it's a client config issue...
Old version of Filezilla? Filezilla set to only one type?

Filezilla automatically detects. I use it on both active and passive ftp
servers, without touching anything...

Yeah, it's the port/passive issue and your firewall most likely.

Change your client prefs from what it is to the other...

Subject: FTP Question

We have to make regular connections to another ftp site running
pure-ftp. We're only able to connect using Windows Explorer.
FileZilla and FTPExplorer will not connect for some reason - both
receive an "invalid option" response from the server.

Any clues for the clueless?
