Bad console ports happen quite frequently, you're just not in the industry to see them.

Such things are extremely rare on something as new as a ASA, but conceivable. You mostly see it on the older devices.

If:
 a) It doesn't respond to pings or telnet
 b) No response on the console with a known-good cable
 c) No console output when you power it on with a known-good cable
Then:
Hope you are up to date on your Smartnet.

Andy Shook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> previously uttered:

ASA 5510 and I'm trying to console in to see whazahappinen' with this box, however, a known good console cable and putty serial session gets no response. I've actually never come across a bad console port on a piece of Cisco gear. Any ideas on this one, O' great CCIE master Aaron? :)
